Lighthearted Nonsense

My posts have definitely tended towards the depressed, pessimistic side of life lately. I’ve been so sad and so sick, and while writing helps immensely, solely dwelling on the negative will do no good.

I happened to check my email today, which is usually a big no-no for my weekends, but I happened upon something Peachy Pains posted and tagged me in! It seemed like just the sort of silliness I need right about now.

This is the Alphabet Meme, and it really took me back to my xanga days. There you will find tales of marching band and flirting with my now husband in our awkward highschool days, along with a LOT of post and tag quizzes like this one. I generally try not to ever post anything completely off topic here, but this one will probably stray a lot. Skip it if you want to, and if I tag you don’t feel obligated to forward it on. But for now, it was a nice interlude from all the doom and gloom I’ve been feeling lately.

The Alphabet Meme:

A: Attached or Single – Married!

B: Best friend – Morgan and Alison, Stephanie, and of course, hubby.

C: Cake or pie – Actually don’t really like either – too rich for my poor tummy. But between the two I’d take pie.

D: Day of choice – Saturday or Sunday – the only two days I’m ever at home and awake at the same time!

E: Essential item – iPod. Yes, I still carry a little thing that just plays music and does nothing else. I could transfer it all to my phone but there’s something about that little thing that I love and can’t part with. Oh, and I guess MEDICINE because my life sucks that way.

F: Favorite color – Purple

G: Gummy bears or worms – I don’t love gummy candy except for those fruit slices – I WOULD KILL FOR THOSE. But worms I guess. Funner?

H: Hometown – Richardson TX, and I’m finally home again.

I: Favorite indulgence- Chocolate chocolate chocolate – I eat WAY too much and CANNOT stop myself.

J: January or July – July – my anniversary is in July, hearts and kisses!

K: Kids – I want kids so so bad like NOW. Especially since I’m not sure how far I am from the doc saying we just need to take that uterus right out of there! But it doesn’t look to be in the cards for us right now.

L: Life isn’t complete without… –  Stealing Peachy’s answer – my sweet husband.

M: Marriage date – July 30th, 2010

N: Number of handbags – Like, 2. I hate purses. I grudgingly carry one, but only because it’s shaped like a kitty face.

O: Oranges or apples – Apples – I honestly don’t like orange anything.

P: Phobias – needles, which is really NOT conducive to having an incurable disease.

Q: Quotes – “Life’s like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending.” ~Kermit the Frog

R: Reason to smile – Kitty cuddles.

S: Season of choice – Spring. It makes my hubby and I extra kissy and huggy and gross like that.

T: Tag 5 people –Sydney, Kyla, Jackie, Toby, Xtine

U: Unknown fact about me – I was on the Today Show with Katie, Matt, and Al. And I wasn’t in the crowd, I was supporting the Make a Wish foundation and got interviewed on TV!

V: Vegetable – I’m warming up to them. I love lettuce. Crunchy and yummy.

W: Worst habit – I can’t choose just one. I’m secretly horrifyingly disgusting.

X: X-ray or ultrasound – x-ray – I’ve had a billion ultrasounds and only one x-ray, so it’s not a very fair comparison, but the x-ray was quick, easy, and resulted in treatment and answers. Oh that everything were that simple!

Y: Your favorite food – Macaroni and Cheese 4eva

Z: Zodiac sign – Aquarius. I have a cool song about me. Aquariiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus, aquariuuuuuuuus

Hope everyone’s getting some much needed lighthearted nonsense this weekend. 🙂

About rachelmeeks

My name is Rachel Meeks. I have endometriosis, an incurable pain condition, IBS, a digestive illness, and PCOS, which causes irregular periods and infertility. After keeping my illnesses a secret, I started to get upset about how my fellow sick people were being mistreated because of ignorance. I knew that I'd need to stand up, make some noise, wear my heart on my sleeve, and admit that I am not well to make a difference.

  1. I thought this was cute and sent it on to Fb. I’d like to reblog it on my site, if that’s okay with you.

    • Thanks for sharing! You are more than welcome to share it, I was afraid no one would want to fill it out, I’m so excited people do want to! A link back would be appreciated. 🙂

  2. Hello—- I received my “Do I look Sick?” pin in the mail yesterday!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Your responses to N, S, and W really gave me a chuckle.

  4. I am so gonna steal this 🙂

  5. I feel like I totally know you now! Haha. I used to love gummy candy like crazy but my ridiculous gut doesn’t like anything now. Boo hoo. I didn’t know you wanted kids (suppose that’s normal to want kids!). I never did, which was good. I do hope that will happen for you! Fingers crossed.

Also, passing this on from a blogger/artist I stumbled upon on WP in Mumbai–his custom, computer-generated art is being offered for free for those with illnesses: http://niranjanshukla.wordpress.com/2013/06/29/art-call-for-topics-for-a-cause/
    Hugs, A 🙂
