Sleep Talk

So, as you may or may not know, I’ve been battling some kind of infection ever since my surgery at the beginning of June. That’s right – I’ve had a flu for almost TWO SOLID MONTHS. The day before yesterday I might have told you I was finally well, but yesterday and today I’ve been coughing a little, and felt some little stings of pain, so I may not be out of the woods yet.

Anyway, I was prescribed cough syrup with codine in it, and it makes me talk in my sleep all night long. Yes, hubby says it’s amazing. I speak “at full volume very clearly at least three or four times a night.” At first, when I’d talk I’d wake myself up, but I’ve learned to sleep through it. Hubby – not so much.

I’ve apparently regaled him with talk of meteorologists, the record high heat we’ve been experiencing, dinner reservations, and a host of other things that were so out of context he has no idea what I was trying to communicate. I’ve told him he should keep a notepad by the bed and write down what I say. My parents have told him he needs to just set up a camera every night. So far, though, he’s just tried very hard to get some sleep.

(And yes, I really do have a purple kitty sleeping mask. In fact, it was because of that mask that at first hubby thought I was legitimately trying to talk to him – he couldn’t see that I was asleep!)

Now, just a few items of housekeeping:

1.) I have added a paypal button at the bottom of this page. I have been blessed enough to receive gifts from some of my readers, and it has touched and surprised me! I never would have thought to add a donation button, but the generosity of my readers has taken me off guard. Thank you all for your continued support of Do I Look Sick. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you may now do so. Just scroll to the bottom of the page (where you’ll also find delightful links to our facebook and twitter!)

2.) In case you couldn’t tell, I’m still learning how to really use wordpress, and I have made a discovery I wanted to share. Not that any of you would be so silly as to have this problem like I did. But I noticed that I was following more and more blogs that never seemed to update. Finally I realized that when I click “follow” on a blog, the default is to NOT update me about it via email! New posts only appeared in my “reader” (which I never use). So if you go to your reader and click “edit list” you can switch the email notifications from “never” to “instantly.”

So, if I followed your blog a while bag yet never seem to comment, like, or view anything you’ve been posting…that’s why. I am working on catching up on what I’ve missed!

I’m also working on posting more here. I had a good post-every-four-days thing going for a while, and I’m going to try to keep that my standard. You may hear from me less or more, depending on spoons. 😉

About rachelmeeks

My name is Rachel Meeks. I have endometriosis, an incurable pain condition, IBS, a digestive illness, and PCOS, which causes irregular periods and infertility. After keeping my illnesses a secret, I started to get upset about how my fellow sick people were being mistreated because of ignorance. I knew that I'd need to stand up, make some noise, wear my heart on my sleeve, and admit that I am not well to make a difference.

I love the cartoon!!! LOL! Sorry you haven’t been feeling well. Honestly though, you wouldn’t know just by looking at you.
